are you overheating or is the horn going off. Since you disconnected the ground the sensor does not sense oil in the tank, the same warning horn sounds for low oil. if you can put your hand on the engine for 5 seconds and not get burned you are not overheated, if the engine is very hot to the touch then you have a overheating problem. when is the last time you changed the impeller

Re: 50HP 2 stroke Yamaha overheating

Hi,
I have to replace a Yamaha 30 2 stroke (1992!) that's been a great engine (still runs fine but took lower end out with a rock). My choice is between a Yamaha 50 2 stroke or a 40 4 stroke. What has been your experience with the 50 stroke? I'm looking primarily for dependability and longevity (boat operates 100% in a remote location with no technical support).
Thanks,
Rob
