Hope a simple question for some of you. I have a 1986 Evinrude 110 that when you turn on the key I get a continuous horn sounds (overheat) Cold engine just put in water and not started yet, another problem is it does not always do this, sometimes all day one day and the next day seems to work normal, have brought it in and seems that every time I bring it in it will not do it for them.

Thanks

Re: Continuous horn

Disconnect the lead to each thermostat sensor one at a time. If the sensors are bad you'll be able to shut the horn up by disconnecting them.

Re: Continuous horn

I will try that thanks, I wish the dealer would of just told me that.
If I am not mistaken there is just one on each side of the motor in between the two cylinders (V4) or is there more than two.

Re: Continuous horn

There are only two sensors. I had a coninous horn that drove me crazy until I found where the insulation on one of the wires had rubbed thru and was grounding on the block where it made the turn to go to the harness. Look for that; maybe you'll get lucky.
