Found this by accident but may help someone.

My 75 HP Mariner wouldn't start or even hit a lick. I thought I had water in the fuel tank so I completely drained it and put in 10 gallons of non-ethynol fuel. Still wouldn't hit. Thought there might still be water in the fuel line so I disconnected it at the quick connect at the front of the motor and squeezed the priming bulb. 4 squeezes and got nothing but oil. Found that the oil check valve had went bad and oil drained by down into the fuel line. Replaced the check valve ($12.07) in the oil line and reconnected.
Fired right up instantly and has had no problems since. Did get a few beeps when the engine first started until the oil filled up the line where I replaced the check valve.
