Hello all,

I am looking at a 24 ft tri toon and I am working with the dealer on picking the right motor....standard is an optimax 150, but for $500 I can upgrade to an 150 Pro XS. I may pull one skier every now and then, and we will pull our kids on a tube, but other than that its mainly a cruiser.

Do you think the 500 is worth the money?

Thanks

Re: Optimax 150 vs Pro XS 150

The Optimax 150 would probably be a more torquey motor than the Pro XS--and get better fuel mileage on a pontoon boat. The Pro XS is ported for higher speeds/rpm's than the Optimax--more suited to a bass boat.

I personally would prefer a 150 hp 4 stroke on a pontoon boat for low noise and a power band better suited for a pontoon. (I'm still running a 1985 Yamaha 115 hp 2 stroke on my pontoon.)
