I own an 18' North River boat with a 60hp connected to a Yamaha 703 remote control lever. Here's my problem: The lever is loose, and in order to tighten it I'll have to remove the lever. It is mounted in such a way that there is not enough room to reach my arm in behind where it is mounted, (factory installed), to loosen the nuts. Is there any other way to tichten the lever -- it's got too much play from side-to-side? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks, in advance, for you thoughts...

Re: Yamaho 703 remote control

I've had a 703 control since 1985, and have had no issues with it.

If you need a diagram, all the Yamie parts dealerships have them on their parts websites on the internet. Sometimes you have to pull the whole control in order to get behind it to tighten bolts.

Bamaman1...thanks for your reply. The only problem is, the 'tightnening' bolt is the same bolt that attaches the 703 control! Plus, I can't get behind the control to remove it. Thanks.
