I have a 16ft alum.sylvan, what would b the right prop size b for just cruisin around,no tubes or skiiers? 1990 50hp johnson.any ideas greatly appreciated.
What is your present prop, rpm and speed?
It is best to prop for the max wot rpm and speed, lightly loaded.
16ft Sylvan doesn't really tell us much.Full dress or bare bones?
A 4 blade prop usually give good low and mid range performance.
Stays on plane with less throttle.
full dress, has a 3 blade ss prop, have to take it off numbers must b on inside of hub.I wanna say its 11.5x9.wot it was only turning 3800 rpms 27 mph.most say i should b turning atleast 5000 top speed 30.thanks for help.i also have to recheck throttle cable setting,i just replaced it.thanks agian.
In the course of events you should check the height of the motor on the transom.
The antivent plate(just above the prop) should be about even with the bottom to up to an inch above. This could create some speed and rpm.
