I have a Mercury 1993 2.5L with a great powerhead but a very poor midsection. I have access to a 2005 Mercury 200 2.5L Optimax with a blown powerhead. Will the powerhead from the 1993 bolt onto the 2005 and will the cowling go on it without any problems?

The 200 DFI engines are 3.0 liters not 2.5. The optimax in 2.5 liter was the 135,150 and 175.

Were any of the 200's carburated? I didn't think this engine was DFI.

Fazt is pointing out that the Optimax cannot be a 2.5l 200HP motor. You likely need to find out exactly what the Optimax is and ask again.

Re: Swaping Powerheads on 200 2.5L Mercury

I am correcting my post. It is not an Optimax but just a 2005 200hp Saltwater Mercury. My local marina tells me it should bolt up with no problem as the change from 2.4L to 2.5 L occured in 1991. Any feedback on whether the cowling will fit?
