Auto switch bilge pump wiring

I have a 2002 Bayliner 185 Capri that came with a 500gpm Johnson pump wired to a two position on off switch. I purchased a compatible Johnson automatic switch to attach to the pump. The auto switch has 3 wires. All of the Johnson diagrams so it wired to a three way switch, not a simple on/off switch. The boat is in the water 24/7 for the summer. Should I wire the auto bilge switch directly to the battery & pump or will this mess with the on/off switch at the control panel?

Wire it to the battery or a constant on source and then + to the dash switch that is grounded to the battery then it is a manual automatic.

I have the one on my boat wired this way and if you have your boat in the water you certainly want the float switch wired.
