The float for my direct-sight gauge is no longer as buoyant, and makes reading fuel level difficult. It is one of the moeller red tanks. Does anyone see a problem with adding a fishing bob to the end to help it float in the fuel or have a better solution than buying another assembly? Would also consider adding a sender as i have an extra dash gauge, anyone know of a cheap option? Thanks for any advice!

I have the red Moeller 12 gallon portable tank with the float guage similar to yours, and it's never really been worth much as far as really telling how much gas is in the tank. I usually just remove the cap and look in the tank, and my cap has that long black plastic "dipstick" that shows the fuel level pretty good.

Good to know. the dipstick on mine does not reach the bottom and must have come from another sized tank. Mine is 12 as well, thanks for the input
