It will depend on what year your engine is, and whether it's carbed or MPI. Many carbed models are rev limited to 4700 and rated at 4600 MAX. Some of the newer MPI models are rated up to 5000 RPM.
my 95 wellcraft 23.5' with carb'd 454 won't turn over 4200, according to my tach. I'm pretty sure the cam profile is the issue as the boat will pull hard to 4k and just run out of rev and max at 4200.
