Swapping a 4.3L Marine Block for a 4.3L S-10 Blazer Block

I have recently bought a 97' Sea Ray 190 Signature Closed Bow. The boat was really neglected. It has 436 hours on it. It was never winterized and the block is cracked above the pistons. I am thinking of swapping the block I have for a block out of a S-10 Blazer. Is this a worthwhile fix. From what I understand the block's are the same, just some differences the cams, crank, and the freeze plugs. All I want is the block, everything else (I am assuming) should bolt up. Am I correct, need some input.

Thanks

lots of people have done this exact swap, just search the forums for info

you should swap out the core plugs (they arent freeze plugs) with brass, otherwise they will eventually rust out

the crank should be fine, the cam may be off a little but probably close enough not to notice a huge difference

the auto piston rings are tempered for 210 degree operating temp, while marine engines are usually 143 or 160, so you may have some compression issues
