I took our older fishing boat out for a spin last week and can't get her up to normal operating speed. It seems like it just isn't gettin enough gas. When in neutral, the motor will rev up to high RPM's but in gear, it takes a looong time to pick up the speed. The boat ran great earlier in the Spring. I changed the fuel/water seperator filter (which had a lot of water) drained out the tank and put new gas in... I can get it started easily, I just can't get it running at normal speed.

What would you try/check first?

Does it have a good hot spark in all cylinders? Hows the compression? Check for spark and compression. Post back results.
