how do u get the top carb off of a 150 inline six merc. i cant get one of the bolts out and i dont want to take the distributor off or is there no other option?

It will come off w/o removing the distributor. Disconnect the electric. Remove the cowl support and the starter. You will be able to wiggle it free.

I have done that I can't get to the right bolt on the block.

Try a 3/8" drive socket with an extension and a universal fitting. It is tight, but not that tight. Maybe a 1/4" drive socket will work for you...
