205 Merc bogs at top end.....WHY?

My 205 Merc inboard takes off out of the hole no problem, but when it reachs 3400 rpm it seems to be starving for gas and starts to bog. I cleaned fuel filter- fresh gas.....coil??? Please help.

Ayuh,... Fuel starvation,....

Could be anything from the tank vent to the carb...

I am not sure- is there a filter in the gas tank-I looked at the connection-never took it apart- by reading other posts- I think there might be a pick-up filter- if so- where is it located? I did find my carb filter was dirty- so if there is a pick-up filter- can I assume that it is also dirty?

The pick up filter is located at the end of the fuel pick up tube that is in the fuel tank. If you have one take it off. It's not needed if you have water/fuel seperator or any other in line fuel filters. I think any new designs for this item doesnot have a screen at the end of the pick up tube.
