Fuel capacity on 1998 GS-209?

I just bought a 1998 GS-209 with a Volvo Penta 5.0 GL engine. I did a couple hour cruise around the Puget Sound the other day, breaking in a new motor. The gas gauge read about 1/2 tank when I got back to the marina. Filled it up and it took 36 gallons! I think the gauge is messed up, or the boat has an exceptionally large tank. Anybody know the actual capacity for this thing? I didn't get an owners manual from the previous owner.

Thanks!

Well the new GS-209's have a 45 gal. tank, so I'd think it would be similar to that. I've always questioned the accuracy of fuel gauges on boats, and have seen similar concerns from others in the forum. I would assume that newer boats might be a bit more accurate, so with yours being 13 years old, it may be off a bit.

Looks like I need a new tank sender, since I filled it up and it did it again. Thanks for the reply!
