dual prop

I have owned a single prop I/O for 12 years. New boat has 8.1 Volvo w/ dual prop. Is it normal to have about an 1/8 inch of play on the two props or should they be tight-tight? I can bump the back prop back and forth about an 1/8 of an inch without the forward prop moving?

Just went out and tried mine. Doesn't move at all.

There shouldn't be any movement at all. The prop should be tight, an the shaft itself should have a preload, no movement at all.

If you're talking about rotational play between the two props then yes, that's very normal. Just a little slack in the gears. Any side to side play or play on the shaft itself is NOT normal.
