Inboard ford pleasurecraft impeller not priming

How do i reprime the system after replacing the impeller. we replaced it and started it and melted one impeller already. Any suggestions>?

In the water, or on the hard,..??

is there a way to do this in the water, am i at risk of sinking the boat while checking this out, i am more of and outbaord and car mechanic, these systems are unfamiliar... thanks for any advice...

Ayuh,.... If it's In the water, 'n the pump is below water level,...
Pull the "In" hose off the pump,...
Water should be coming outa it...

Are you sure you have the inlet and outlet hoses on correctly?

It should self prime. Check to make sure you didn't install the pump upside down (yes i am speaking from experience).
