I have a 1993 Evinrude 70 HP. It will not run over 3200 RPM's (very slow), previously ran 4500 rpms. It dies when put in gear. I thought it was the fuel pump, so it has a new fuel pump, cleaned carburetors, new spark plugs, sparks have clean blue spark, checked coils. It just seems to have no power. Any ideas? Thanks.

That's a relatively new motor but, have you checked the compression? It sounds like a weak cylinder (or two).

Start with the basics, compression, spark and fuel delivery. Those engines would run pretty good on two cylinders.

You will want to do a link n sync after you have removed the carbs. Might have been the problem all along. If the butterflies don't open at the right time.
