Starting this year my 2000 Mercury 75HP is jumping into gear when on high rev to warm it up. I generally keep it at about 2000 RPM to warm it up and it jumps into drive. I know that it is just an adjustment where the gear cable attaches, but don't want to cause more damage trying to adjust. Does anyone know the proper way to adjust it?
Any help would be appreciated, I really don't want the boat sitting at a repair shop for weeks.
