Re: prop help for honda 90

The composite kind of throws the general rules out the window.
I feel if you want more speed go to aluminum or stainless in a 3 blade.Normally you would expect
the metal props to have better slip numbers though I have nothing to confirm that. Going to 3 blade will increase rpm again with the composite in the mix??You probably could go to a 18" pitch and still maintan close to the 6,000 rpm.while improving speed. The Solas al. props seem to have good results.

6000 RPM is kind of high for most motors. I am not familiar with the RPM range for your motor, but you could go up to a 19 or 21 pitch prop for sure and still be in the mid 5000 rpm range. 3 blade props have less hole shot but more top speed than 4 blade props. If it were my boat I would get a 3 blade 19 pitch SS or alum. If you really want more top end and willing to sacrifice some hole shot a 21 would work..or you could get a vented prop and keep hole shot.

Re: prop help for honda 90

Your 90 is rated at 6,000 and usually it is suggested to prop for the max rpm.
so you need to try for the most out of your prop selection.
Others may be al;ong with different suggestions.
