I have a 1993 merc 2.5l 200hp outboard recently it started over reving drove boat at 2000 rpm after about an hour prop stopped spinning (towed in). Prop bushing was damaged had it rebuilt took boat out again and after using the boat for about two hours it starting overreving again it took about two hours to get back but made it at 2000 rpms any faster and it would start reving again. Inspected prop it looks good could the lower unit be damaged no grinding noise and fluid was changed two months ago.
