Swapped a boat/motor/trailer for same.

Starting troubles.

Cleaned up the starter solenoid and replaced brushes/springs in the starter.
Needed to prop choke open to start.
Had motor running and blew a can of seafoam through it. Smokey Joe!!!

My 70's merc 50 was not starting, choke was closed/insufficient air, I thought, and was reading posts here about 50 mercs and adjusting the cable ends at the motor.

So I took courage and toolbox out into the evening sun, figured out the clamp contraption which holds the threaded brass whatsis and gave it a whirl.

Success. Instant start.

Shall be reading more of the forum, like gathering nuts for a rainy day.

Thanks, writers.
