Accidentally overheated engine pretty bad, supply hose came off. Same day wife was practicing backing in to dock and slammed into the back. Now engine seems to chug at low speed but sounds ok at higher speed. RPM to maintain approx 24mph also seems approx 1000 rpm higher than it should be now. If I bring down RPM, boat wants to drop off plain. Pulled out and checked prop and it is OK. Any ideas?

Re: Ooops

1. Check the spark plugs for any indications of water. Rust, or a spark plug that looks shiny new.
2. Replace the riser gaskets and check the manifold and riser surfaces for flatness. Use the new style gaskets and follow the instructions to the letter.
3. Do a compression test.
4. If compression test fails, move on to a leakdown test.
