I was wondering if anyone knows if the mounting holes for a 48 spl and honda 50(4 stroke) is he same. I have twin 48 spl but wanted to change to 4 strokes due to gas consumption.:confused:

They should be the same however you could take measurements of your outboard and then go to the Honda dealer and compare them.

For the added expense in changing motors, you could pay for an awful lot of fuel. And also be aware that at wide open throttle there is very little difference in fuel consumption between two and four strokes. It doesn't matter what the technology is, it takes xx amount of fuel to make xx horsepower. If fuel economy is the ONLY reason you are changing engines, then I suggest you run the numbers (do research on fuel economy) to ensure you know what you are actually going to experience.
