For the added expense in changing motors, you could pay for an awful lot of fuel. And also be aware that at wide open throttle there is very little difference in fuel consumption between two and four strokes. It doesn't matter what the technology is, it takes xx amount of fuel to make xx horsepower. If fuel economy is the ONLY reason you are changing engines, then I suggest you run the numbers (do research on fuel economy) to ensure you know what you are actually going to experience.
