Details:
My outboard was knocked over, and it broke the nipple off the fuel pump cap.
i bought everything (cap, screen, gasket), but i did not by the screw. when
i put it together today the screw didn't want to screw in easily - it went
in, but know it seems like it stripped (how tight does this need to be?).
can / should i just get a new screw, or will i have to get a whole new fuel
pump assembly?
Thanks,

Re: 2001 johnson 8hp

i also did change a pump cap, but i could unscrew old sccrew with a litle force and put them on pump.
if you atache this cap to pump body with gasket ofcourse, and pump fuel by primer there should be no fuel lik around fuel pump body.if fuel will lik it means fuel preasure lose motor runs eraticly
