I have been given a small task. Get an engine to a 1983 305 V8 Mercruiser started.

While I was looking at the parts I have available, I noticed the bottom of the exhaust manifold a bit clogged...
I have attached some pics of the manifold...Should I have these cleaned out and if not, should the closed areas cause a concern?

Thanks

They are JUNK, replace the manifolds and risers.

Alternate question...

Might these scrap iron hurt the engine so bad the Cylinder #2 would lose compression?

I was given the boat and they said #2 cylinder was bad, but the compete engine is unassembled.

Ayuh,... They could well have leaked water into the cylinder, causing the problem, Yes...

If that boat was in salt water (and from the looks of it was) you will be real lucky if the engine turns at all.
