1963 Johnson Electramatic Super Sea Horse 40 HP HELP!

Hi, I just purchased a boat with a 40 HP 1963 Johnson Electramatic Super Sea Horse. I want to give this motor a good overhaul and need some info on it (i.e. fluids to use, wiring, spark plugs, controls, etc. If anybody has a manual for it or knows where I can get more info or just wants to leave a comment or helpful hint on anything about this motor, it is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. You have an electric shift lower unit. Some like em and some hate em. It takes special Type C oil. Do not put anything else in it. Read the top of this forum under top secret info and awakening a sleeping outboard to get all the basics. It is pretty much the same for all the older outboards although yours will differ in the LU. Then search the forum and you will find most of your info has been answered. If you have specific questions then post them. If it's an RK25 I have the parts manual for it. Send me a PM with your email address and model number if you want it.
