Hey all
Just got back from a day of fishing with my wife, son, and a couple of friends and had a fabulous time.
We went out through Skidegate Narrows to the West Coast of Haida Gwaii. The weather was perfect! No wind to speak of and a gentle low westerly swell, heck it was even sunny! Anyways we started off trolling for salmon and caught half a dozen in the 20 to 30 lb. range with little effort.
Then we decided to try a little bottom fishing, it was slow at first but then we decide to try a new spot and hit the jack pot! Lots of Black Rockfish and Ling Cod. My 5 yo son even managed to land a 20lb Ling which had attacked the Rockfish he had hooked, all on a little spinning rod that isn't much more than a toy!
Man what a day. Oh yea we managed to land a 35 lb halibut too.
