i messed up the timing by moving the timing arm while it was running, now i can't get it to crank up. I read u need a timing light and set piston 1 to tdc but i don't have the cover for the flywheel, so i'm not sure where the pointer would be located. anyone have any ideas on how it's done?

Get a cover for the flywheel.
Get a service manual
Get a dial indicator or dial caliper with a depth gauge.
Get an inductive pickup timing light
Follow the instructions step by step in the manual for linkage and timing adjustment.

good luck
