Im buying a 1548v Weldbilt boat and my dealer sells a venture 700lb cap for $600, Venture 1300lbs for $700 and a Loadrite for $750. Need help choosing a trailer that will last, particularly in saltwater. I was wondering about an aluminum trailer also and how the prices of those trailers are. I will be towing on the highway occasionally but no more than 180miles or so. Can anyone give my any suggestions? I take of care my stuff and i want it to last many years. Thanks,

Buddy

Ayuh,... The Brand matters very little,...

Go with Aluminum...

Pass on the 700-1000# trailers.
Everything is much better built when you step up in capacity.
Something over 1300# capacity would be good.

You will never regret having a stronger better built trailer.

I know quite a few guys that bought Loadmaster trailers and love them. Get the disc brake option.

Of those three brands, no doubt Loadrite.

i can see maybe having the disc brake option with a bigger, heavy boat. But this is a 15ft Jon boat with gear probably weighs 500lbs. Do you really think i should? Seems to me just another thing to have to maintain and fix? I dont know, just saying...

Not familiar with those trailers offhand but I would at least look for something in the 1000# range and then base my decision on how is this rig going to be used. If you are even remotely thinking that this rig is going to be used at remote unimproved ramps I would seriously be looking at something with a tilt bed. A straight bed trailer makes it very difficult at these shallow ramps.

Check your State's trailer laws, typically trailers under 3,000 lbs. don't need brakes.

You want maintenance? Use drum brakes in saltwater. ;)

It's fun trying to remove a red hot brake drum off a stuck brake shoe on the side of a busy highway in the dark. Been there, done that twice.

Get the Loadrite. You don't need brakes.

I too would question why anyone would need brakes on a light load such as this.

Go with aluminum and stainless disc brakes. You won't be sorry.

Actually, he will be sorry if he takes on the additional headache and expense of brakes for a trailer that small.
