I was given a 86 johnson 30hp pull start, and you can pull it. I pulled the rope assembly off and it pulls in and out very smooth. So i tried to turn the fly wheel by hand it wont move its in nutreal thanks for the help
so is it frozen up or?
pour some 50/50 atf and acetone mixed in the cylinders and let it soak with the spark plug holes pointed skyward every couple of days rock the flywheel back and forth a few times and leave it to soak itll free up just dont get too carried away rocking it or youll break something internally once it does you can move on to the other problems like rebuilding the carb and putting a new water pump in it all toll if its got spark youll probably be into it for about 75 bux if your coils and power pack is good
a quick question couldnt a frozen lower unit keep the engine from turning shouldn't you remove the lower unit before doing all that then try to pull it and if still frozen see above just a thought let me know what you think.
