So I'm getting ready to swap out the black anchor on my Sylvan pontoon with a Johnson mounted on another boat. The shift cable comes off the Johnson with no problem. I know this will sound stupid, but I dont see a way to disconnect the throttle cable at the motor without disconnecting the arm that it's attached to. Is there an easier way? Thanks.

It doesn't have a clip or 3/8 nut holding it on?

I just went out and messed with it again, the arm it's mounted on pulls forward enough to release the cable. Just being extra careful, if this motor breaks I'm paddling this summer! Thanks for the reply.

We put a 1980s 75 horse Johnson 3 cylinder on a 20ft pontoon boat last summer. We took off a 40hp Merc. I think that you will be very happy with that swap. Just make sure that you put a prop with the correct pitch on. We used a 12" pitch I believe. The boat is a rocket now! Best of luck and happy boating.
