New to the forum!
Have a 2001 Volvo penta 8.1GSI-A coupled to a VP DPSM drive.
Pulled my upper gear housing/lower unit today to replace the boot as I do every year or so.... and inspect the gimbal bearing. Water came out........... bad news!
The gimbal bearing is toast. Can this bearing be pulled from the rear of the boat without transom plate removal or worse?
The u joint assy is shot. The drive shaft that goes through the gimbal bearing is corroded. I know it has been superceded by a one piece assy. Are there any after market shafts available?
Anyone been through this that can suggest the quickest solution?
