tilt trim on 40 hp force 96 model

ok guys my tilt trim unit works but in water and moving the pressure from water pulls it down to about half off where it was.i can slow down and it comes back up when i hit button.i changed fluid and i have no visable leaks eather. wat do you guys think is my problem? thanks eric

i run into this a lot on the single ram systems that use small trim motor (the one with an oval base).
A new tilt relief valve p/n 827672A 1 ($140) usually fixes it. If not that then a manual release valve p/n 813442A2 ($39). If those dont get it done then a pair of check valves p/n 827671A1 ($89ea) will do it for sure. It almost never something oither than one of those three items. It's usually the tilt relief though.

ok thanks man i will get the tilt relief first and see wat happens.140 bucks dang though!no way to repair it i guess?thanks for your help man.
