hello,
I have a 1984 Mercruiser 140, with a alpha one drive. This boat has been in storage for over 2 years and I am trying to resurrect it. I don't appear to be getting spark. I replaced the coil but it didn't help. I am getting ready to go through a troubleshooting post that I found on this forum, to try and solve my spark issue. My question is this. While inspecting the wiring, I found that the wiring going to the trim tabs on my drive unit were rotted. (they fell apart in my hands when I grabbed them.) I have disconnected the wires for this unit. Will this have anything to do with my spark issue? I was hoping I could get the boat started before trying to run new wires for the trim tabs. (I think I'll have to drop the lower unit to get access to the wire port, to pull the new wires through) Any suggestions would be appreciated. I also might need a wiring diagram for the trim tabs, as I have no clue which wires went where as they fell apart, before I had a chance to try and match the ends.
