75 Evinrude coils spark separately but not together

I have a 75 Evinrude 25 HP motor model 25553B. electric and pull. I replaced one of the ignition coils and am able to get a spark on each of them separately but not together. Anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong? Is this common?:confused:

If you are trying to say that both coils produce spark, but not at the same time, that is the way they are supposed to work.

I am sorry, but me not being that smart, I am trying to understand exactly what your saying? Can you elaborate a bit more?

thanks didnt know if both would spark at one time or not I shot it with starting fluid and it fired right up!

Don't use starting fluid on your engine, use some fuel mixture and squirt it in the carb.
