Re: 1991 Mariner 150hp v-6
Dealt with the same thing a couple of days ago. Well, some what similar. The customer had water leaking in all cylinders and it was ran a few times during troubleshooting mode. He got fed up and brought it to a dealer who in turn said three weeks. The customer did not want to hear this so he begged me to continue to work on it. By the time I got to it, two weeks had passed WITHOUT a drop of oil on the cylinders nor pistons. After the first day back on the job, we attempted to crank the motor with the ignition disabled. No luck. Pulled out the breaker bar and the 24mm, popper her on there, and began to spin it slowly AFTER soaking it in 2-stroke oil. The whole point to this is; wether it's because your carb was not feeding the oil mixed fuel or water was in your cyliders(as was my case), the rings/pistons/cylinders were robbed of oil during a critical time. Your carb failure(presuming this is the reason for carb rebuild) starved the cylinders of oil. The remaining oil may have been removed or burnt during troubleshooting mode and the time you took to get the carb back and attempt to crank is when she began bonding in the cylinders. Soak the cylinders with pb blaster if it's locked tight.
