Re: repainting aluminum Starcraft

Any bare aluminum need to be hit with an etching primer. Only a light dusting of it is required. I used this which I found at Pep-Boys http://duplicolor.com/products/selfEtchingPrimer/ On the cheap end, Rustoleum primer and paints work great. On the high end would be all the two-part marine paints. Up to you how much you want to spend. I know at least one member here painted his with this stuff http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=2330 and it came out awesome.

Welcome to iBoats!

Pics always help us to help you. My signature line has a link on how to post em. I really like the Rustoleum Professional Oil Based paint especially if you add the Valspar Acrylica Enamel Hardener. Give a GREAT durable finish and with a HVLP gun is easy to apply. VERY reasonably priced. You can use Artist Acrylic Oil Paint to tint it to any color in the rainbow.
