PCV Valve?

My Merc 140, like everyone elses has a PCV valve. Mine however is not like a car that has a check ball in it. You can see right through it. Shouldn't it have one to allow air just one way, like a car engine?

Your engine isn't designed to utilize a Positive Crankcase Ventilation system.
So no, it's a hose connection.
