Hello I am new to this forum and have been searching for information about adding Aerial FreeRide Twin Speakers to the Tahoe q5i Stock tower. I currently have the stock Jensen stereo which i think can only put out 140 watts or the 4 channel and 40 watts per speaker. I can only find this information about the new 2011 boats so i do not know if this is correct for the 2007. The Aerial FreeRide Twin Speakers that i want to add can handle a max of 180watts and a continuous 60watt. I am wondering if it is possible to use these with the stock Jensen stereo or not.

You listed the maximum power the speakers can handle, not the minimum they require. Forty watts RMS should be fine.

Not if you are planning on leaving the original speakers in the boat hooked up. I have a 2008 tahoe 216 withprobably the same stereo. I also used to install car audio for a living. You should have a set of pre-outs coming out of the back of the head unit. Use them for inputs for a two channel amp to drive the tower speakers.

Yea, depends on if you're leaving the existing speakers hooked up which I assume you would be. Technically you could wire the tower speakers in along with them, but they wouldn't be getting hardly any power and wouldn't sound very good. But even if you did give them a dedicated line from the head unit, you woulnd't be getting their full potential.

If you're going to invest in tower speakers, definitely get youself an amp to drive them with. Doesn't need to be anything fancy if you're on a budget. You could probably find something for around $100 that would work fine.
