I have a 2002 Crownline 202 BR with 5.0 GL Volvo Penta SX outdrive. I pulled my boat out and trimmed the outdrive down to check fuild level and about 8 oz of gear lube pour out on the ground. My question is where could it be leaking from the 2seals on the carrier bearing or some where else. Also if it leaking from the bearing carrier what is the meathod for removing this from the lowr unit.

Pull the outdrive, and check the bellows for oil. The input shaft seal is a common place for leaks.
If no oil in the bellows, drain the gear lube and do a pressure check on the drive. Pressurize it to about 15psi and spray every connection with soapy water. The bubbles will tell you where the leak is.

Could you tell by looking at the drive what part the leak came from? For example, one of mine was showing a leak under the plastic cover - turned out to be at the shift linkage. The other drive did not show outward signs of a leak, but was leaking from the fill bolt behind the props - bad o-ring. The leaks introduced water into the drives which caused a state of overfilling and blew out the seal Don mentioned causing oil and water to blow into the bellows. Fun.

A pressure test as suggested should show you what you need.

The bellows is the black rubber boot covering the drive linkage between the outdrive and transom assembly.

I had it setting up for the winter in my shop I trimmed the motor down to check the level and gear lube came out of the prop. the level was fine I drained it and no water. so I refilled and not leaking but I took it out and when I checked again their was water in the lower unit. The unit never over filled just 1 to 2 oz of water. None the less I believe it is the 2 seals on the carrier bearing. Which you have to have a special tool to remove 3850707.

You still need to drain the drive and do a pressure test, and you will need to pull the outdrive to check the input shaft seal for leaks.
Until you do that your are just guessing and hoping.
