What can I expect.....prop switch

I have a 4 Winns 170 Marquise with a 115 Johnson. I had been spinning a Michigan 3-blade 13.5x17 prop. Top RPM is 5500-5600 and 41 mph with 2 adults aboard.

I just got (a heck of a deal on iBoats!!) a Solas Amita 4-blade 12.75x17. I'm planning on starting to pull some 2-person towables and thought the 4-blade might bite for a better, stronger pulling boat.

Will I notice a difference in pulling power between the 2 props?? How much top end have I sacrificed ??

I've had no 4 blade prop experience, but I've read on this forum that a 4 blade might cost you a MPH or two. There again, you're going down 2" of pitch, which may cost you a couple of MPH.

Everyone says you'll come out of the hole better with a 4 blade. It's just a matter of opinion to some.

Put the boat in the water and see what it'll do.

No. Both props are 17's ............same pitch.

But I guess the bottom line is to try and see. Just curious to hear if anyone else had tried a similar swap.
