What should be the PSI reading on the gauge for my 1986 Mercruiser 260? My old 305 had 60 PSI according to the gauge. This one is only reading about 30 PSI but goes up slightly when on plane. Is this OK or should I stop using it before it causes a big problem?

Ayuh,... Try another gauge...

10 psi per 1000 rpms is within spec....

Re: Merc 260 Oil Pressure

Alright that makes sense. The gauge that reads 60 PSI is on my old checkmate - I replaced a few of those gauges that were broken, and I guess I probably need a new oil pressure gauge too. On my new boat with the 350, the pressure rises to about 40-42 PSI at WOT according to the gauge, so I guess that is within spec. Thanks Bondo.
