Just resently purchased a 1988 Bayliner capri bow rider, that has been sitting for 6 years. the engine does turn over, but found a freeze plug that was popped off and we were siphoning the oil throught the dipstick and got 1 gallon of water before the oil started coming through the hose. My question is " Is this going to be a major problem"?

They sell used engines on EBayMotors.Com in the boat section. Also, see BoatTrader.com. There are a number of boat salvage yards that maybe could help you. Too bad you've got OMC, as parts are harder to come by.

That's your least expensive way out--if you can call it that.
