I have a 2003 115 fast strike Johnson out board
I have just chaanged the leg oil which was a bit mixed
The rev counter has four warning lights on it, what are they particularily the 1st one?
The motor turns on no prioblem and runs nicely at idle, when i engage gear and increase the revs the 1st warning light comes on and there is a loss of power.
Please help

Overheat or no oil injection oil.

Can you see the telltale emitting water?

Have you checked the oil tank?

If that is a two cycle motor, the lights are overheat, low oil in tank, no oil at motor and fuel restriction. I would think the lights would be marked.

Loss of power may mean that the overheat sensor has initiated thr S.L.O.W. system, which kills spark to three cylinders.

first light should be NO OIL,
next light is WATER TEMPERATURE
next light is CHECK ENGINE
last light is LOW OIL

on your motor you do not have a low fuel pressure alarm( unless maybe if it is a FITCH motor of DI motor in which case nothing I say may apply ha ha)

it might help if you posted the Model number.

because in the late 90 and early 2000's they made both carbed and fuel injected motors with the same name on the cover!!
and a lot of what applies to one style motor is moot for the other.

if your piower loss seems to be that the motor will not rev higher than 2500, but sounds like its running fine under that RPM, then you probably have activated the SLOW system...but again, we need to know your model number

good luck

Hi
The motor is two stroke and direct injection,
The oil tank is full,
The tell ale is strong,
There is no fuel starvation,
She runs nicely at 3500 rpm for about 2 mins gets up on the plane etc and then the hooter goes off with the 1st light comming on ,she then looses power but runs nicely at 1000 rpm,
I think that the SLOW is definately getting activated
I will get the model number if necessary,

when she loses power and the rpms drop , you need to pop the engine cover and touch the heads...if they burn you and you have to yank your hand off fast, you are over heating....if the heads can be touched for 2-3 seconds without burning yourself, then you probably have an oil delivery issue...which is the first alarm light... but i didnt know that the SLOW was activated by things other than over heat...

somehow your system might be thinking you are getting no oil into your motor!!! you should verify that you are actually getting oil...because you will ruin your motor if you continue.
