After four months or so without any measurable precipitation it started raining here a few minutes ago. My wife and I were sitting at our computers when the beautiful smell of wet greasewood (creosote bush) began to waft in through the open window of our office/computer room.
We went to the front door and a gentle cool rain was just starting to fall. A slight breeze blowing and lightening flashing in the distant desert skies.
Neighbors up and down the street began to appear in front yards, calling back and forth to each other. Kids running around with arms held out just feeling the miracle of the rain.
Don't know how long the rain will last but God, ain't it great to see a little moisture falling from the sky again, if only for a few minutes.
Thunder right overhead now better shut down the computer and go watch it rain some more.
