I have a 1976 stringer outdrive with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder.

When i bought it, there was a 14x15 prop on it.

I took it out the other day and with the waves, it did damage the prop on the trailer as well as damage the cavitation plate.

I figure that i can bolt aluminum plate on top of the cavitation plate for reinforcement. [I'm not crazy about welding in that area]

Now, all I could find for a replacemenet prop is a 14x17. I'm sure it'll be even worse on take-off. Since I bought it mainly for cruising at slower speeds it doesn't matter that much.

From what I've read this has a 19/20 upper ratio and a 15/23 lower gear ratio.

Now, maybe I can ask my question---lol

Am I correct in assuming that the 19/20 is a .95 and that the 15/23 is a .65?

If so, do I add those together to get overall ratio?
