Another barn find. Here are the facts:
- Built in 1987 from galvanized aluminum
- 24 ft long, though the tongue could be extended another 3 feet
- Solid enclosed frame construction, not "C" frame (3x5 inches all the way around)
- Tires are 1820 lbs capacity so 7200 lbs from a tire perspective?
- 4 inch wobble rollers (24 of them)
- 96 inch wide
- 76 between the fenders
- 4 inch underslung axles
- no brakes
- 2 inch leaves stacked 3 high

I am thinking of towing my 24ft four winns horizon 240 bowrider (3900 lbs dry).

I would imagine I will be okay but just want to make sure.

Thanks as always.

Galvanized aluminum? LOL

In any event, look for a model number/capacity tag, normally near the tounge. Or the capacity would normally be on the title.

Well it looks ok to tow your , you might need a few more rollers to make it easier on your boat bottom.
BUT you have one large problem looking you straight in the eyes. You MUST brakes on that trailer in order to tow any boat over 2,000lbs according to state and provicial laws. And from looking at the hitch coupler you do not have any. You had better check you local laws to make it safe for you tow as well as anyone else you may encounter on the roads! Good luck.

Boateric,

Exactly right...The trailer original surge brakes but that coupler was shot. I just replaced with a simple coupler just to get it home. Going to try to rebuild the surge coupler or buy a new one.

it's gonna depend on the axles.... if they are 2000 lb axles then it's a little light.... if they are 3500 lb you'll be fine.... look here for the specs to measure the bearings and figure out the capacity of your axles.

Most trailer MFGs will stamp or weld the serial # into the frame somewhere, contact shorelander trailers.

Besides the brake issue, you have 7200 pound carry capability with the tires, you now have to check and see if the rims and the axles will also meet that. (and the hitch)

replace all rusted bolts as well.
