Re: Boat quit pulling

Since you didn't mention any smell of burned rubber, I would suspect a spun prop hub. Take the prop to a prop shop and have it checked out.

Re: Boat quit pulling

on the inside of the prop itself is rubber, thats probably what went bad.If you call your local marine store, they can re-hub your prop for you,and even check it

Not the prop hub. The guy at the marina said it sounded like the engine coupler went bad. Does that sound right? Maybe something smaller, not so hard to fix?

Did he even look at the prop?

Yes it could be the coupler. It costs more than a new prop, and you have to pull the engine out of the boat to replace it.

What rpm is it idling at? That may be why it won't shift.

Re: Boat quit pulling

can you upload a good picture of your prop splines.as don said the engine will have to be pulled if its the coupler.its always best to have a couple of props anyhow but if u have no splines left it will never be able to exert a load again.lots of props on ebay if you know thats what failed.
