1975 johnson 40 low speed needle setting

hello,buy adjusting the low speed needle in, the one with the big knob on to make the revs rise is this making the engine leaner or richer.or should i leave it just before the point where the revs rise.many thanks julian

When turning either, high speed or low speed needle valves "in" (clockwise), you are decreasing the fuel flow (ie: lean). A ballpark setting for the low speed is 1 1/2 turns out (after lightly seating) and the high speed is rarely more than one full turn out.

Thanks mate for the info,on mine i dont think you can adjust the high speed needle,i'll leave the low speed at 1 1/2 turns to be safe.cheerz mate
